By April 14, 2023April 24th, 2023No Comments

From the desk of Signature Parking Founder & CEO Michael Holmstrom. The Weekly Drive is a collection of company news, ideas & inspiration that can drive us all to be better humans.

Signature Updates

We still want to hear from you! Please take a few minutes to complete our employee engagement survey. We’ll report back in a few weeks on our biggest takeaways once we have enough data.

We’ve invested in a new Performance Enablement feature in our Paycom payroll software which will enable our leadership team to better manage monthly 1:1 talks, and to conduct 360-degree reviews with all team members. All of the discussions, performance notes, and reviews will be accessible through your Paycom Mobile App. Our HR team is currently building out the system and we should be live in under 30 days. We’re very excited about this new tool which will help us build on our culture of feedback and continuous improvement. More details to follow.

Signature Moments & Customer Feedback

Another great trip advisor review at The Hotel Milo “Loved the morning view, which we surprisingly had sunrise when looking at the ocean! There was no elevator but their valet service is excellent and will carry your luggage up and down if you want….”

Our wonderful Kaiser Vallejo team received a personal handwritten letter “I want to thank you for all your helpfulness and kindness. We patients using valet truly appreciate you. Happy Easter!”

Our Parking Lot Ambassador Gina Quiroz had this to share when I asked last week about how Job Crafting plays a role in your work…
“When I first started, I immediately took the role of parking enforcement seriously and towed five cars in the first couple of weeks. Yes, that sent a message to the regulars that park in that lot to park in the appropriate spots or I’d be towing their cars. I felt it sent a little bit of a negative vibe so rather than tow their vehicles so quickly I’ll actually point out an available spot and just doing that little extra effort has made everyone appreciate why we are there. I will also walk into the businesses to try and identify a potential tow and that makes our clients happy we take that extra step. What I’ve noticed is that just doing a little more than what’s expected has been a win, win for us all”.

Thank you Gina!

Insights

Company core values are the principles guiding and often driving a company’s mission and goals. They guide crucial decisions and influence the culture underlying the organization. At Signature Parking, our Core Values are:

  • Commit to Quality
  • Deliver Wow Service
  • Seek Genuine Connection
  • Be Humble, Helpful, and Kind
  • Be a Team Player
  • Be Open and Honest
  • Pursue Growth and Continous Learning
  • Create an Environment of Safety (Safety 1st)

Our values have gone through a few iterations since we started out, but the underlying themes remain the same; we’re a parking hospitality company dedicated to making people feel welcomed and cared for. Originally, we considered the “people” at the top of the pyramid to be our customers, but we’ve come to realize over the past few years that if we make our own people feel welcomed and cared for, everything else will take care of itself. Today, we are more committed than ever to living our values and taking care of our own. Our value of pursuing growth and learning is at the forefront as we’ve recently launched new manager training, and grown our employee benefits programs significantly. There’s still plenty more we can do and we encourage you to provide your honest feedback in the survey linked above to help us grow and improve.

Leveling Up

Which of our core values is resonating with you right now in your work?
Could you provide us with an example?
What about values that are not on the list? Here’s a list of common core values. Are you demonstrating any of these at work?
Please share your thoughts at [email protected] and i’ll include your feedback in our next newsletter on this topic.

Quotes worth pondering

It’s the job of any business owner to be clear about the company’s nonnegotiable core values. They’re the riverbanks that help guide us as we refine and improve on performance and excellence. A lack of riverbanks creates estuaries and cloudy waters that are confusing to navigate. I want a crystal-clear, swiftly flowing stream.
